Cold Brew Smoothie

THE WHY BEHIND THIS RECIPE
This was one of my first recipe reels, so forgive the production quality in the video below but the recipe is still GOLD!
You’ll never guess what the secret ingredient is in this cold brew smoothie…CAULIFLOWER! Don’t worry, it does not taste like cauliflower. It tastes like coffee ice cream. I first learned about this recipe when working at Levels, and I love it because for many people, drinking coffee on an empty stomach can cause digestive upset or increase the effects of cortisol, the stress hormone that is usually highest in the morning. If you add protein, fiber, carbs with your coffee, it can help with the hormonal response, and with any potential digestive upset.
Serving size: 1
WHAT YOU NEED
3/4 cup cold brew coffee
1/4 cup almond milk - I like Three Trees Organic or Malk Organics
1-2 servings of chocolate or vanilla protein powder - (I love BeWell by Kelly Chocho Protein for smoothies)
1/2 or 1/3 a small frozen banana
1 cup frozen riced cauliflower
1 tbsp chia seeds or Zen Basil seeds
1-2 tbsp almond or cashew butter
Look for a nut butter with JUST NUTS, without any seed oils. I like Artisana, Mara Natha, and the 365 brand (just the one without seed oils, read the label!)
HOW TO DO IT
Throw everything in a blender and enjoy!
SWAPS, TIPS & TRICKS
You want a total of at least 25 grams of protein.
If the protein powder is too sweet, I like 1 scoop flavored + 1 scoop unflavored (like collagen peptides)
If you are hungry in less than 4 hours, increase your protein and fat next time you make this smoothie!
